The little-known medieval trout pond on a hillside above the town.
Kirkbymoorside on the southern slopes of the North York Moors has a strong sense of self-identity based on a long history. In the woods above the town hides the huge moat of a lost castle, and just below there still exists the castle's old pond, showing how the town has long looked out from the moorside across the Vale of Pickering.
