Sunrise over Whitby, but the moon still lingers in this atmospheric contemplation-piece.
It took four years from first seeing the sun and moon lighting Whitby until I found the ideal paints to tell that story. I have selected my 'Turner' paintbox - shades no longer available such as Smalt, Weld and Barium Chromate. I have created a paintbox of modern equivalents with the help of paintmakers Winsor and Newton to reproduce these colours.
